Mr Wakefield, what are the growth opportunities for LANXESS in Australia?

Australia ranks in the top three positions in the world in the extraction, production and export of a range of minerals and metals. This creates some interesting opportunities for a range of the LANXESS businesses, from BU Technical Rubber Products for conveyor belting to BU Ion Exchange Resins for minerals processing.

Business Unit Materials Protection Products is also growing strongly, especially in the Wood Preservation sector with Preventol® active ingredients, and the Beverage sector with our unique cold sterilisation Velcorin® technology.

For the IPG business, the outlook over the next years is also positive as LANXESS continues to benefit from the strengths of our company – strong and sustainable businesses – in times of significant market change and volatility. We are a reliable partner to the industries we serve and our customers recognise this.


How are you going to realize these opportunities?

Our objective in Australia is to operate a knowledgeable and effective team that is engaged with the market and able to grow the business with existing customers while at the same time also exploiting and developing new opportunities as the economy evolves in new directions.

It needs two basic prerequisites: an efficient organizational structure of LANXESS Pty. Ltd. in Australia, and employees with competence in their respective fields as well as an entrepreneurial way of thinking.
