Mr. Wang, what do you think about the opportunities offered by the Chinese market?

Asia is currently the market with the largest and most dynamic growth potential and China is considered to be the most vital and promising market of the region and worldwide. The country is not only the world’s second-largest producer of chemicals, but also globally the second-largest consumer of chemicals. Production is growing steadily with forecasts of five-fold GNP growth by the year 2020. This would make China the largest economy in the world and you don’t want to miss a market like that!

What is the strategy driving the involvement of LANXESS in China?

We already enjoy a good market position and we want to develop it further. To this end we are looking for suitable partners to promote businesses that on their own would remain insufficiently profitable. It also improves our access to the market. We aim to generate sustainable, profitable growth in the Chinese market. For us, growth makes sense only if our businesses become more profitable in the long run.
