LANXESS in India

India is, after China (including Hong Kong), the second most important growth market for LANXESS in Asia, and, measured by sales, the third most important market in the region. The world's seventh-largest country is also the world's fastest-growing consumer market - in all industries.
The dramatic increase in consumption to be expected in India will result in a massive growth of chemical production sites for raw materials and intermediate products. India's most important areas in this respect are the automotive, electrical and electronics, tire and leather industries, which currently account for more than half the company's total sales.

Building on its long history in India, LANXESS is striving to further strengthen its leading position in this growing market for chemicals and polymers. With this in mind, the company is consistently expanding its production capacities. LANXESS brought a new plant for the production of the rubber chemical RhenogranĀ® on stream in response to mounting demand from Indian tire manufacturers and other rubber processors. At the end of August 2007 LANXESS decided to build a new ion exchange resin plant in the Indian state of Gujarat. Production is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2010.
